The top is 5 planks, 1 1/2" thick and varying widths. The ends are capped with 4" planks, and both edges accentuate the natural features of the wood. All pieces are wooden pegged together, and the top is lag bolted to the trestles. The finish is tung oil and furniture polish. The table can be very easily disassembled for shipping or moving.
