Sterilization Specialist I (2nd Shift)-350####### Description Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Sterilization Specialist I 2nd Shift located in Albuquerque, NM. Sterilization Specialist Level 1 position, represents an Associate who may have an entry level knowledge of the irradiation process and if he/she is not a Certified Irradiator Operator they will immediately work to become a Certified Irradiator Operator. If the associate is a Certified Irradiator Operator, he/she has entry/limited knowledge in other set of skills related to data gathering from the Sterilization network, enhanced MS Office skills, knowledge in supporting dose mapping activities, executing sterilization related protocols, special request processing, top off process, assistance with PM's, etc. Is responsible for ensuring that daily operation of irradiation units are carried out safely, efficiently and within all regulatory requirements. Key skills and knowledge that is required for this role includes: Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written. Intermediate algebra competence. Able to accurately report operational trending. Discipline, initiative, assertiveness, leadership and project management. Interest in contributing to design improvement upgrading existing equipment. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic/hydraulic systems and controls. Able to interact with work groups. Positive interpersonal skills. Work history that demonstrates required skill set. Able to identify issues/problems with sterilization operations/systems and provide effective communications that help in the development of solutions. Basic understanding in the use of hand tools. Knowledge of mechanical systems, automated equipment and electrical controls in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Key responsibilities will include overall responsibility for irradiation units. Daily production and operation of units. Maintain record keeping of unit (i.e., maintenance records, safety records). Coordinate and plan material flow for unit. Maintain product dosimetry process. Participate in on-going training. Responsible for radiation safety of self and all others who come in contact with the units. Place, retrieve and read dosimeters. Oversee material handler(s). With limited supervision, respond to emergencies. Assure all activities related to units (i.e., visitors, contractors, inspections, audits) are conducted appropriately. Set standards for safe behavior. Recognize and reward safe behavior in others. Ensure that team members employ safe practices. Enforce safety policies and procedures. Report to Radiation Safety Officer and/or Sterilization Facilitator. Other responsibilities may be assigned and not all responsibilities listed may be assigned. Participate in implementation of the EMS management system including continual improvement; pollution prevention; objectives and targets; and regulatory compliance. Implement and follow all applicable EMS procedures. Adhere to the site's EHS Code of Conduct. Qualifications Completion of Associate's degree, technical school or apprentice program; OR a minimum of 2 years' experience working as a mechanical/electrical technician in an industrial manufacturing facility is required. A minimum of 1 year of radiation experience is preferred. Documented approved Radiation Safety Training course with assessment of skills. Computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.) are required. Working knowledge of plant systems and process control logic is preferred. Physical demands require: long walking, standing, bending, stooping and reaching, lifting of up to 50 lbs., climbing on rigging and ladders, and being at different heights. Some office desk work, requiring sitting, walking, using the phone and computer. The ability to work 2nd shift, occasional overtime and some holidays is required. You must be able to cover different shifts as business needs require.
