New Mexico Heart Institute has received the Bridges to Excellence Cardiology Practice Recognition, which recognizes and rewards clinicians who deliver superior patient care according to rigorous standards established by the American College of Cardiology.
Our practice consists of 26 cardiologists, cardio-thoracic and vascular surgeons and our services include state-of-the-art heart and vascular medicine and surgery, cardiovascular imaging and emergency hospital and intensive coronary care services as well as leading cardiac research.
We are currently seeking a Practice Administrator/CEO to model and promote the core mission in providing the best care to each patient, every day, in an accessible and compassionate manner. This position, guided by the Board of Directors, is responsible for management, planning and development of the practice and practice activities.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with the President and the Board of Directors in establishing and implementing practice strategies
- Oversee the leadership team in pursuit of patient satisfaction, outstanding quality and efficient operations,
- Negotiate contracts of all types, including physician employment contracts and professional service agreements.
- Serve on aligned hospital governing boards and participate in the joint leadership of cardiovascular service lines.
- Oversee recruitment, development, and evaluation of physicians and staff.
- Oversee all financial affairs of the practice including financial performance, compensation plans, capital borrowing and budgetary planning.
- Oversee the revenue cycle of the practice.
- Oversee practice compliance including, HIPAA, HITECH, malpractice risk management, coding and documentation and personnel law.
- Represent the practice in its relationships with payers, referring physicians and regional hospitals
- Facilitate resolution of medical/administrative problems and keeps lines of communication open with staff to ensure high employee morale and a professional clinic atmosphere
- Maintain professional affiliations that enhance professional development
- Maintain a very high level of confidentiality
- Various other duties within the scope of management and administration as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, healthcare or finance
- Master's degree in business, healthcare, accounting, or finance preferred
- Minimum of 5 years executive level healthcare management experience with indirect oversight of employee group(s) of 100 or more.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of current health care environment and trends.
- Knowledge regarding integration of practices, hospitals and health plans.
- Knowledge of the policies and procedures of a medical practice sufficient to fare well in an environment of external quality measurement.
- Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve the practices objectives
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and external associates
- Skill in organizing work, delegating and achieving goals and objectives
- Ability to manage change and direct the problem-solving process
- Ability to analyze and prepare comprehensive reports
- Ability to read and interpret contracts and other legal documents
- Must be proficient in MS Office Suite, EMR software, and other related clinic applications
