I have a personal Rails project, which I don't have the time to keep working on, while I'm hired for my current employer.
It is my little startup project.
Some facts about it:
- I'm the author of all of if its 500 commits. It's a great codebase, fully modern, tested and clean.
- It's deployed to Amazon Web Services, using ruby-aws-sdk and Packer.
- The business domain it quite fun (and I hope it to be profitable)
- There are NO deadlines. Deadlines suck! :)
- We can keep a long time relationship, increasing your rate, giving you nice responsibilities... all while you work part-time, from home.
This is what I expect from the developer I need:
- fluent in written English. Please DON'T apply if you cannot keep a detailed conversation, understanding me fully and making your point clear.
- willingness to always keep improving (learn + apply my codebase practices). All implementations should be simple, and tested.
- Work cleanly with git. I don't accept bad git commit messages, ugly commits, etc. The git-flow model will be used.
- Be Trello-centric. All work must be relative to a specific Trello card, so I can see the business value of your commits. Generally there will be no chat, no emails. Only Trello.
- Log your work hours. You must communicate the exact amount of pure time dedicated to the project to me (recommended: 4-5 hours). Personally I use Focus (for OSX) for that.
- I don't mind if you spend the first 3 days reading the code, asking questions, learning the gems I use, etc.
- Honesty to tell me "I don't know how to do this" if a technical challenge arises. I will help you, while still paying you for the time spent.
Money info:
Initial rate is $5/h. From my understanding, that's a decent amount of money in certain countries.
I can pay you as often as you want, with the method you prefer, as long as transfer commissions don't become a pain.
All I expect from your side is a weekly report, in which each day is listed, along with its corresponding Trello cards, git commits, and hours spent.
